Write a description that works
Name the genre, the mood and what the song is about, plus one or two instruments: "a hopeful indie song with jangly guitars about moving to a new city". Specific beats vague.
Let the AI write the lyrics, or bring your own
AI writes them is the quickest. Write lyrics I can edit shows you the words first, so you can change them before the music is made. My lyrics sings your own text.
Fine-tune with More controls
Set the tempo in BPM, the key, a title and sounds to avoid, and choose the Creativity: Focused sticks to your description, Wild takes surprising turns.
Fix it instead of starting over
On the song's page, choose New version to extend it, replace a part, give it a new style or trim it. Every edit is a new song, so the original stays as it was.
Share it when you're happy
Download it as MP3 or WAV, or publish it with a free account to get a link and an artist page. Wherever it's shared, the song is marked as made with AI.

Questions
Do I need to know anything about music?
No. A sentence about the song is enough. If you do know music, More controls lets you set the tempo and the key, and lyric tags shape the structure.
Why doesn't my song sound like what I described?
Be more specific: name the genre first, then the instruments and the mood, and use Avoid for what you don't want. Making it again also gives a different result.
How long does it take to make a song?
Usually a minute or two. When many people are making songs at the same time, it can take a little longer.
Is it really free?
Yes. Make 10 minutes of music a day without an account, or 30 minutes a day with a free account. No credit card, no trial. Free listening has a short break for LimeWire Pro every few songs.
How long can a song be?
Up to 4 minutes when you make it. Extend it by up to 90 seconds at a time, as often as you like.
Can I use the songs commercially?
LimeWire.fm's terms let you use songs you make, including commercially, as far as the law and the AI model's licence allow. AI-generated music may not be protected by copyright in some countries, so for big projects check the rules where you live.
